2. Don’t care about what others think
As soon as you start doing something special or different, there will be people telling you that you’re on the wrong path. The worst kind of people are the ones claiming that they know someone who knows someone who knows how something has to be done. Of course, you may be lucky and meet some real genius this way, but in most cases, they will all just be full of shit. Be nice to them, tell them you’ll consider their recommendations, thank them, and then get the hell out of wherever you are.
BE CAREFUL WITH FALSE EXPERTS.
Those are usually friends or people you meet here and there, who claim to know how the business works, or what you’ll have to do. They will get you onto the wrong path. Don’t let them fool you.
BE EVEN MORE CAREFUL WITH REAL EXPERTS, BECAUSE EXPERTS ARE CLUELESS.
They will come up with statistical knowledge and try to fit you into some mass-compatible pattern because they believe that following existing trends will be the most secure way to achieve business goals. Experts can’t deal with the ones that are special or different in any way.
TRUST YOUR FEELINGS AND DO WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT.
One more thing:
Don’t get fooled by your friends, your local fans, local critics, or the local press. It is just normal for them to praise you, but they will neither be really honest with you nor will their feedback be of any real value as they will always treat you as one of them.
NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE FACT THAT YOUR GRANDMA THINKS YOU’RE AWESOME.
Think global, and face criticism and feedback from people that have no direct connection to you. Relying on local feedback is the best way to make sure you’ll remain at your current level. We will further discuss this problem later on in this manual.
