Your killer album

Only 326 pages left on your journey to becoming a rock star!

Maxi Single (usually 3-5 tracks, 10-40 mins)

The maxi single usually contains one or two songs, plus additional remixes of one or both of the songs. While the radio edit version (usually track one) will be identical to the single (about 3-5 mins), the remixes can be very different, and also a lot longer.

Maxi singles are very popular in some music genres, and completely irrelevant in others.

Check out what other artists in your genre do, especially if you’re doing EDM (electronic dance music). Releasing your maxi single both digitally and physically – maybe even on vinyl – will make sense if this is popular in your genre. But in the end I don’t think that maxi singles are a good option for most genres. So my final recommendation will be to avoid this format, unless you really know what you’re doing.
